AI is everywhere. In decision support systems, services and products we use every day. But how well do we really understand how AI systems work, the risks involved, and what happens when something goes wrong?
At this Innovation Jam, you will meet Almira Osmanovic Thunström, researcher and innovator with a focus on AI, digital healthcare and the safe use of AI. She will give an accessible overview of how modern AI systems are built and the security challenges that come with increased adoption. You’ll also see how AI can be manipulated, what types of threats exist, and why they arise.
Date: 12 February
Time: Noon–1 pm (12:00-13:00)
Location: Leap for Life | Halmstad University
Whether you work in technology, business development, or are simply curious about both the risks and opportunities of AI, you’ll gain new perspectives and practical insights to take with you.

Almira Osmanovic Thunström is a researcher and interdisciplinary expert in neuroscience, artificial intelligence and human–technology interaction. Her background is in cognitive neuroscience, and her work explores how technology – particularly AI and XR – influences learning, behaviour and human development.
She works at the intersection of science, ethics and technology, often highlighting questions around AI’s role in society, creativity and consciousness. Almira has gained both national and international attention, not least for an experiment in which she let an AI write a research paper about itself – sparking wide debate about the place of AI in academia. She is also actively engaged in issues of inclusive digitalisation, the ethical implications of technology, and how neurotechnology can be used to improve learning and wellbeing.
