The Patient Experience Council

The Patient Experience Council (SE: Egenerfarenhetsrådet) is connected to Leap for Life and Halmstad University’s focus area Health Innovation. The council consists of patients, relatives, and representatives from various organisations with personal experience of Swedish healthcare and social care. Together with actors from academia, healthcare providers, and innovation support, the council works to ensure that those affected by healthcare services have a clear influence on research, innovation, and collaboration.

Why Engage the Patient Experience Council?

  • The Patient Experience Council is a natural partner for research and project applications. Its representatives can help identify development needs as well as offer perspectives and methods that enhance public involvement in projects.

  • The council serves as a bridge between patients, relatives, researchers, healthcare providers, and companies. Through its work, it fosters dialogue and collaboration between these groups – a critical factor for improving the quality of care and developing solutions that truly work and make a difference.

  • Solutions developed with input from patients and relatives are more likely to be accepted and implemented in care settings, as they better reflect the real needs and expectations of the patients. This contributes both to strengthening person-centred care and ensuring that new innovations gain traction.
